In January of 1959 I began my business career as an arbitrage trainee at Asiel & Co. on apWall Street . Showing little aptitude as an arbitrageur,the firm sent me to the research department for further training. There I found my niche and soon discovered that other firms on the Street were willing to pay more than $68. per week for my services. I quit Asiel & Co. ….went to work for several "boiler shops" while I got my MBA at NYU.

In April 1959 ,while living on the east side of N.Y.C. on 78th St. in a fourth floor walk up, I met a very good looking ,sophisticated girl (big boobs) by the name of Liz. She claimed that she had been to about every decent place in New York City and she bet me that I couldn't take her to a place she had never been. I took her to a "night court" session at the court house down town and won the bet!! In November 1960 we were married and I've not been back to court since. This is my 43rd year of taking out the garbage.

In 1962 we had our first child , a girl. Also in the same year I started work at a NYSE member firm Stanley Heller & Co. as a research analyst. By 1965 I was in charge of investment banking . We began to underwrite all sorts of new IPO's . Ahhh those were the days….

In 1964 my son was born ….O.K. one boy, one girl….that's all for me!! (Liz wanted six) Yeah right!!

December 1963 I became a partner of Stanley Heller & Co. What a thrill!!! No money …just bragging rights. Stayed with the firm until 1972 when, after the senior partner died, the managing partner died….I found myself as Senior Partner in charge of liquidation. The firm ceased to exist shortly thereafter.

O.K. it's 1972 the market stinks I'm out of work and there doesn't seem to be much demand for ex-senior partners with bragging rights. So here I was living in a nice house in Mountain Lakes, N.J. with my family of four, collecting my unemployment check every two weeks and playing tennis every day. Eventually my loving spouse asked…" Hey..when are you going to get a job? "You can't be a bum all your life…can you?" I thought a lot about that and it was at this point that I began to form a philosophy of what I wanted out of life…..I wanted to be able to do what I want when I want to do it!! This meant that no longer could I work for someone else, I must work for myself in order to achieve my goal.

Thus began my Southern adventure. Sold the house in N.J. , uprooted the kids from school, begged my wife not to file for abandonment and took off for Tampa, Florida.

In Tampa I started a company in the healthcare field. We rented all types of medical equipment to patients in their homes i.e. oxygen, hospital beds etc. I soon needed help…so my wife reluctantly consented to assist part-time. One year later she's managing the company's operations full time and I'm sitting in the warehouse doing the books and paying the bills. (however…..I get to do whatever I want whenever I want.) In 1983 I sell the Company to a British conglomerate and Liz goes nuts. Her 27 employees no longer are under her wing… Soooo we start other business entities some successful , some failures. But always…(I get to do whatever I want whenever I want)!!

In 1985 my daughter graduates from Allegheny College and her father is nominated as a trustee. Geeze….I couldn't wait to get out of school after four years and now I have to go back?

Today…we still live in Tampa , our son has his own company Exeter International located in Tampa.(high-end tour operator for exotic vacations in Russia and the former Eastern block countries.)

Our daughter, also living in Tampa, she is a wonderful stay at home mom for our two beautiful grandchildren.
